Research from the company behind a 100% free money saving application has revealed that a quarter of Smartphone owners have porn on their handset, 4% of whom are women. Furthermore, two fifths of Smartphone owners would download a pornographic app.
As part of ongoing research into how Britons use their mobile handsets, the company behind the MyVoucherCodes app conducted a study to discover if men and women over the age of 18 have pornography on their phone and if they would download a porn-related application if it was available.
According to the research of 1,521 over 18 Smartphone owners in the UK, almost a quarter, 24%, of the respondents who took part in the study admitted to having pornographic material on their mobile handset; 4% of which were females who admitted to having porn of some description on their Smartphone.
The respondents who admitted to having pornography on their Smartphone handsets were then asked how they obtained the material, to which more than a third, 34%, claimed to have 'received it from a friend.'
Furthermore, more than two fifths, 42%, of the respondents who admitted to having pornography on their handset said that they 'downloaded' the material themselves.
When the respondents to the study were asked 'Would you download a pornography application for your Smartphone?' more than a quarter, 26%, answered 'yes', of which more than half, 54%, said they would be prepared to pay for the application.
Of the total number of respondents who admitted to having pornographic material on their Smartphone handsets and stated that they were involved in a romantic relationship, just 16% said that their partner knew about the images on their handset.
Mark Pearson, chairman of the company behind the MyVoucherCodes App has, said the following,
“It is surprising that there isn't already a Smartphone application for pornography, as it is a very successful industry. However, as there is no age restriction to who can own a Smartphone that enables application downloads, I can understand why there is no app available.â€
He continued,
"It was interesting to see that so many of the respondents in romantic relationships were not prepared to tell their partner that they had explicit images on their Smartphone handset. This is a dangerous move as the 'secret' could prove to be more of a problem to their spouse than the images themselves."
The app, launched by www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, is available for free on Android handsets and hardware running iOS, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
