Because of the increased project complexity and the highly competitive nature of the construction industry, a construction project often is executed by many subcontractors. Hence, effectively managing the numerous subcontractors involved in a construction project becomes a crucial challenge for the main contractor in ensuring timely project completion with acceptable quality.
Managing subcontractors does not simply involve asking them to allocate resources (labour, material, and machinery/equipment) into the project whenever an activity is scheduled, and then pushing them to speed up the work without a clear consciousness of schedule risk.
Factors (or uncertainties) such as weather, labour, site conditions, material delivery, and equipment breakdown can influence the time performance of subcontractors, affecting total project duration, and cost.

Procurement
The Cube solution helps you achieve value for money (VFM) throughout your organisation, from enquiry right through to supplier payment.
It allows you to generate Requisitions from site, raise Purchase Orders (including change orders - addendums), track deliveries (GRNS), Invoices and returns, and integrates to the Estimating (Budgets, prices, shared discounts etc) and accounts payable to assist in margin analysis and cashflow. Where Stock is used, materials can also be purchased direct to your Warehouse/Distribution centre.
Integrated Exception analysis throughout alerts you to over-order, over-budget and best/better prices before an order is placed, and matching thresholds/tolerances to stop over-payment of incorrect invoices.
With full integration to the Cost ledger, Budgets, Committed Costs, Liability, Increased and Actual Costs can be closely monitored and corrective action taken where needed.
Estimating/Tendering
The ability to scope, define and rework information to achieve a "baseline" budget and cost plan are critical to the success of jobs in the bidding pipeline as well as jobs already won and in progress.
The Cube solution allows a Bill of Quantities to be simply and quickly prepared in a variety of ways and printed as a set of professional documents, making this an invaluable tool for cost plan management.
Stand-alone or integrated with the Estimating, the Tender enquiries module allows the Materials Resources and Subcontract Trades, within a job, to be sent to selected Suppliers and Subcontractors as an enquiry, and when the quotations are returned, simply enter them into a comparison and select the required prices for the Estimate.
Cost/Value Reconciliation
The Cube solution enables you to report on the Profitability (Cost/Value Reconciliation - CVR) of your project at any date in time, or by a user defined schedule.
Comparisons can be made against that originally tendered, to assess the likelyhood of success - or failure - of a key Construction project.
Adjustments can be applied to the CVR to reflect the gross margin of a Contract. Available as a "project dashboard" in summary or detailed mode, obtain the total visibility of your current profitability and cash position, by individual job, by Month or by overall Company/Group.
Cost Accounting
The Cube solution enables your management team to observe current cost levels, compare them with a standard plan or budget, and institute corrective action to keep the cost within an acceptable bound.
It also provides an invaluable tool for Contract cash supporting, as many of our clients believe - "Cash is King". Once projects are underway the expenditure and forecast cash flow must match available funding.
Providing the accurate visibility of these two major elements along with other associated costs empower the management team to take informed, timely and decisive actions to ensure of the project success.
