Dr. Korman offers the Restorative Obesity Surgery Endolumental (ROSE) procedure for former gastric bypass patients who are looking to combat weight regain
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 19/09/2013 |
Marina Del Rey, CA ( connect2business.co.uk ) September 16, 2013 - Gastric bypass surgery offers patients who have long struggled with their weight the chance for a new life. However, results of this surgery are often not permanent, and keeping weight off can become challenging for many patients. California surgeon Dr. Jeremy Korman is pleased to offer the Restorative Obesity Surgery Endolumental (ROSE) procedure, which treats weight regain in patients who previously underwent a gastric bypass operation.
While Dr. Korman achieves effective results with gastric bypass, patients may gain back significant weight several years after the original procedure. Weight gain is caused by several factors, including the patient's overall health and lifestyle choices. Most commonly, it occurs due to the re-growth of the stomach pouch or stoma, which connects the stomach pouch to the small intestine. Since gastric bypass surgery drastically reduces a patient's capacity for food intake, the stretching of the stomach can easily leading to weight gain. Dr. Korman offers the minimally-invasive ROSE procedure as an effective solution to stop weight regain.
Dr. Korman performs the ROSE procedure using small, flexible surgical tools and the EndoSurgical Operating System (EOS), allowing him to easily access and visualize the target area. The tools are inserted through the mouth, and down into the stomach pouch. Stomach tissue is gathered together, creating several circular folds that are then stitched together. Once the folds are stitched together, the sizes of the stoma and stomach pouch are greatly reduced, minimizing the amount of food the body can take in, essentially recreating the results of the original gastric bypass surgery. Several advantages of the ROSE procedure over more invasive procedures include no external incisions or scarring, a quicker recovery period, and less risk of infection.
Dr. Korman firmly believes that the door should not be closed on any patient after they have a procedure done. Following the ROSE procedure, patients enter Dr. Korman's bariatric surgical follow-up program, which is designed to help each patient meet their future weight-loss and wellness goals, and to support them in their recovery.
