Montreal, Quebec ( connect2business.co.uk ) May 1, 2013 - Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently added another how-to video to its series on selecting the best electronic components for various applications. "How to Select the Right Gyroscope for Your Application" is now available, along with many more helpful tutorials offered through the company's YouTube channel.
A gyroscope, also known as gyro sensor, angular rate sensor or angular velocity sensor is a device that can sense angular velocity. Gyro sensors can sense rotational motion and changes in orientation and therefore augment motion.
Vibration gyro sensors( http://www.futureelectronics.com/en/Search.aspx?dsNav=Ny:True,Nea:True,N:645 ) can sense angular velocity due to the Coriolis force which is applied to a vibrating element. This motion produces a potential difference from which angular velocity is sensed. The angular velocity is converted into an electrical signal output.
Gyroscopes are used in gaming and virtual-reality input devices. They can also be found in angle sensing applications such as dead reckoning and GPS navigation systems. Another application is to sense and correct the vibration produced by external factors such as in robotics or camera-shake correction.
The video explains the various kinds of gyroscopes, discusses how they are used and demonstrates how to use parameters such as output type, supply voltage, supply current, sensing range, operating temperature range, packaging type and more, to find the best gyroscope for your application on the company's website.
