The award comes in recognition of superior PCBA support services provided by the company in the manufacturing of the 8700 Packetwave Platform products that network specialist, Ciena is known for. This fiber optical networking equipment is used by mega corporations such as AT&T, Verizon and others to transmit high volumes of data through their network or over the Internet.

Ciena's 8700 series system was prototyped and launched on an extremely tight schedule with over 19 different products and a 1000+ printed circuit boards designed by AlphaEMS.

Speaking about the award, AlphaEMS CEO, Eric Chang said, "When Ciena decided last year to bring their 8700 series to market, it was on a very aggressive schedule. After completing a thorough survey and evaluation process, they chose to engage us as part of their core design and development team. Due to the tight schedule, we had to increase our capacity and delivery capability with additional equipment including 2 new SMT lines, 1 Flying Probe Tester and 1 Electric Press for press-fit connectors. We were able to come through for them on all the critical aspects of PCBA prototyping and multiple products while at the same time providing, quick turnaround, service excellence and timely delivery. Our team played a significant role in helping Ciena launch this major product on time, on budget."
