Dr. Orth explains the many advantages of the restorative dental bonding procedure
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 12/02/2014 |
Calgary, Alberta ( connect2business.co.uk ) February 11, 2014 - Imperfect, or misshapen teeth may cause a patient to feel self-conscious about their appearance. Fortunately, even minor dental issues, such as chipped or discolored teeth, can be corrected by the dental bonding procedure.
Dr. Kim Orth, of Core Dental in Calgary, Alberta, explains that dental bonding is a procedure that uses tooth-colored resin to restore the look of patient's teeth. Once in place, the dental resin will look identical to natural teeth. The procedure is ideal for patients looking to repair various dental issues, including chips, unwanted spaces between teeth, and repairing decayed teeth. It is also useful for changing the shape of teeth, and for protecting the roots of teeth.
Dr. Orth explains there is little preparation time needed for a dental bonding procedure. Dr. Orth carefully selects a resin that closely matches the color of a patient's tooth, so that the final results look natural. Anesthesia is not normally required with dental bonding, unless the procedure is being performed to correct tooth decay, Dr. Orth notes. Once the surface of a tooth is prepared, the resin will be applied to the surface, and shaped precisely. An ultraviolet light will be used to solidify the material. Dental bonding will take about 30 to 40 minutes to complete.
Dr. Orth says that the biggest advantage of dental bonding is that it is less expensive than porcelain veneers and dental crowns, as well as being easier to complete. Another advantage, he adds, is that a dental bonding treatment can be done in just one office visit, while other procedures usually require several return visits. Bonded teeth also do not require any special care and patients can simply follow their normal oral care routine following treatment, Dr. Orth says.
According to Dr. Orth, the best candidates for dental bonding are adult patients who suffer from minor dental issues, and simply want to enhance the appearance of their teeth. Patients who suffer from major dental problems or diseases may need to undergo a more substantial dental procedure.
Dr. Orth provides extensive patient education at the patient's initial consultation. He works closely with each of his patient, to develop a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan that will help the patient achieve his or her ideal smile.
