Dr. Morin explains why the Keller Funnel offers the possibility of a better breast augmentation surgery
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 31/07/2013 |
New York, NY ( connect2business.co.uk ) July 31, 2013 - Breast implant surgery recently became a bit better for both doctor and patient, or at least that is the case in Dr. Robert Morin's hands. The esteemed plastic surgeon has been using the Keller Funnel for almost 3 years and he believes that the results are impressive.
The Keller Funnel is a single use, cone-shaped device that assists in the delivery of pre-filled silicone implants during breast augmentation procedures. Surgeons who use the Funnel can offer patients a "no-touch" technique that has been shown to prevent contamination of the implant.
"The Keller Funnel allows me to place a silicone gel implant into a breast pocket through a very small incision. The device prevents both trauma to and contamination of the implant by maintaining this "no-touch" environment," says Dr. Morin. The less contact the implant has with a patient's skin, the less chance there is of implant contamination. "This device allows us to place silicone implants through a periareolar incision on almost any patient." In the past, this approach may not have been possible in women with extremely small nipple areola complexes.
The surgeon opens the sterile, double-pouched packaging of the funnel and activates the hydrophilic coating by submerging it in an antibacterial saline solution. This makes the interior of the funnel slippery. The implant is then placed directly into the Funnel, which is trimmed to size according to the volume of the implant. The surgeon then places the small end into the prepared breast pocket and with a squeezing motion, the implant is easily propelled into place.
Using the funnel may decrease surgery time, trauma to the implant, scar length, and the possibility of complications.
