Job Title: Software Team Lead

Salary: Circa £65,000 commensurate with skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, overseeing development activities across multiple project phases
• Collaborate closely with the Project Engineering Manager to align software tasks with wider project goals, budgets, and schedules
• Ensure compliance with software planning, configuration, risk, and quality management processes through the maintenance of key project plans and registers
• Drive continuous improvement through defect prevention, metrics analysis, and process refinement
• Support cross-functional engagement by liaising with other teams, participating in reviews, and contributing to project-wide coordination
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members to ensure high performance, motivation, and skills growth

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and integration, using modern development tools and methodologies
• Practical experience in programming with Ada, C, or C++, preferably within real-time or embedded systems environments
• Proficient in object-oriented design and modelling techniques, including UML, SysML, or XML
• Experience in project planning, task scheduling, and progress reporting within engineering programmes
• Proven ability to deliver complex software solutions that meet customer requirements and integrate with broader system and business needs
