Management Accountant

The Role
We are supporting a fantastic Education organisation in Newcastle upon Tyne in their search for a new Management Accountant to join them on a permanent basis in a newly created role. This opportunity is suited to a highly experienced and fully qualified Accountant with excellent Finance Business Partnering skills, ideally built within the education sector. 

Areas of responsibility:

  • Preparation and delivery of Management Accounts
  • Provision of operational and strategic financial support in conjunction with the Executive Team
  • Supporting the financial accounting needs of the organisation as directed by the COO/CFO including preparation of VAT returns, control account reconciliations, cash flow forecasting etc
  • To support procurement processes including tenders
  • To complete month end payroll processes and checks
  • Supporting effective financial planning practices in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting the COO/CFO in ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, statutory and reporting requirements
  • Assisting in completion of the year end processes
  • To plan and deliver finance training, advice, guidance and support to both the central finance team and financial/non financial staff across different sites, assisting them in financial management knowledge development
  • Working with the auditors to complete any internal or external audits and implement resulting recommendations
  • Assisting in developing effective and robust policies, financial control environment delivering value for money.


About You
Essential knowledge and skills required:
  • Recognised CCAB accountancy qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent
  • Substantial knowledge and understanding of multi-year financial planning and budget management principles
  • Experience as a Management Accountant, preferably within the education sector
  • Managing and reporting on budgets of significant financial value
  • Experienced in a financial control environment
  • Preparation of high-level reports, including recommendations for improvement
  • Experience of managing staff, budgets and physical resources

Hours: 37 hours per week - part time hours or term time only working considered
Salary: £43,693 to £47,754 per annum (pro rata depending on working arrangements)
