Being a Volunteering and Community Officer is all about connecting with people. It’s about helping everyone to get involved and feel welcome at National Trust places. Working with volunteers and local communities, you’ll be making a vital contribution to the Trust’s cause of protecting and caring for places so that people and nature can thrive, end unequal access and inspire millions to support us – now and into the future.
This role may involve managing volunteers, occasional travelling between portfolio properties and may include occasional weekend and evening work.
Hours: 15 hours per week

What it's like to work hereReporting to the Volunteering & Community Manager, you'll be working to support a team of 25 volunteer team leaders and over 600 volunteers across the Nottinghamshire portfolio.
Across the Nottinghamshire portfolio, we care for four historic and unique places; Clumber Park and Mr Straw’s House, located in Worksop, The Workhouse & Infirmary, located in Southwell and Colston Bassett Market Cross, situated outside of Nottingham.
What you'll be doingAs Volunteering and Community Officer, you’ll play a key and proactive role in leading for volunteering on the Nottinghamshire portfolio, working with property, regional and national colleagues to promote volunteering opportunities. You'll support teams to recruit and manage a team of volunteers and act as a first point of contact for all volunteering matters. You’ll help to make this a flexible, positive and inclusive place for partners, community groups and current and future volunteers to get involved.
You’ll be working alongside the Volunteering & Community Manager, to support several Trust teams at Clumber Park, Mr Straw’s House and The Workhouse & Infirmary on various projects, so your days will be full of variety. You’ll also help to hone the people skills our teams need to welcome and work with all kinds of people. This may mean leading people audits, training workshops, creating volunteer communications, as well as coming up with new ideas for activities.
You’ll develop new ways of working together at property and, helping us be a ‘good neighbour’ in our local communities, deepening relationships with existing and new audiences.
