Health And Safety Manager

My client, a friendly, family run business based in Sandy, are looking for an experienced individual to manage and oversee all aspects of site management including health & safety and operational compliance and audits. My client are flexible on part time (min of 3 days) or full time and this would Ideally suit somebody with a managerial background, who is well experienced in ensuring high compliance in a warehouse, factory, or construction environment.

The role:

  • Responsible for organising forklift, machinery, and tool handling training for all employees, ensuring that licences are always in date.
  • Ensuring the business meets both customer, and stakeholder needs within statuary and regulatory requirements overall.
  • Conducting regular inspections in the yard, continuously assessing the environment, and ensuring staff are carrying out all correct safety measures.
  • Upload all documentation, certificates and reports concerning compliance and health safety onto their chosen consultancy platform.
  • Be highly involved in the onboarding process of a new team member, ensuring their health and safety induction is conducted thoroughly.
  • Organising yearly services for all plant hire machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Investigate, handle, and document all accidents both in the workplace and concerning their vehicles and drivers on the road.
  • Continuously refreshing knowledge around employment law, HR procedures and H&S legislation and then providing necessary updates to workers on site.
  • Responsible for general maintenance of the yard, and scheduling works to be done where required, including the fixing of potholes, unblocking gutters, Faulty equipment etc.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation for employees are kept on record in line with HR policies, including right to work, any essential licences, employment contracts etc.
  • Ensuring the business is fully compliant, having all documentation in place for auditing processes including FSC & PSC.
  • Ensure all necessary Pat testing on machinery is carried out in line with current regulations.
  • Ensuring signage is ordered when necessary and in the correct place on site.
  • Carrying out investigations, dealing with grievances, disciplinaries etc when necessary.

The Person:

  • Have experience within a position where you were heavily involved with both health & safety, compliance and audits of the business. 
  • Have excellent knowledge regarding employment law.
  • Be comfortable with a high level of responsibility
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills
