The Hours: This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. You'll work 877.5 hours per year and most of your hours will be worked between Easter and November, usually three days a week during this time. The number of hours worked over the winter months will be much lower, around two days per month.

What it's like to work hereReporting to the Facilities & Support Services Manager, you'll work closely with the Facilities Coordinator. The Facilities team play a very important part in the smooth operation of this large National Trust portfolio. You'll join a hard working team, who are dedicated and enjoy delivering high quality service to our customers both internal and external.
In the North and West Lakes Portfolio we get to look after some of the most stunning bits of the Lake District; from our Georgian townhouse in Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth, and out across our six valleys: Borrowdale, Buttermere, Ennerdale, Wasdale, Eskdale and Duddon. It’s a big patch, but it’s a very special place to work.
What you'll be doingAs the Facilities Assistant, you'll assist with the day to day cleanliness and presentation the National Trust’s buildings and outdoor spaces. You’ll turn your practical hand to all sorts of cleaning and minor maintenance ensuring all our facilities are kept in good working order. You'll also be asked to help with some manual work such as unloading deliveries.
Duties such as cleaning, sweeping and litter picking will form a core part of the role, both inside and outdoors. You’ll ensure the highest standards of customer service across the area by always implementing a ‘customer comes first’ attitude. General maintenance work and helping within other teams will also form part of your role.
