Working closely with the other Permanent Night Service Manager, you will oversee the night-time coordination of all services, ensuring optimal staffing, patient care, and the smooth delivery of treatment plans.

You will also be responsible for overseeing the management of critical incidents, responding to out-of-hours referrals, and ensuring compliance with all hospital policies and procedures. A key part of the role is providing leadership and support to the nursing and support staff, ensuring a collaborative, patient-centred approach to care at all times. You will be expected to demonstrate strong decision-making skills, maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance and patient safety during the night shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the night shift team, ensuring adequate staffing levels and the appropriate deployment of resources.
  • Provide direct support to nursing and support staff in the implementation of care plans and treatment protocols.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programmes when necessary, ensuring high-quality care is provided at all times.
  • Manage incidents effectively, ensuring timely, appropriate, and compassionate responses to emergencies and critical situations.
  • Oversee and manage all out-of-hours referrals, ensuring they are actioned promptly and effectively.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a supportive and collaborative work environment, ensuring that all staff feel valued and empowered to deliver excellent patient care.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures, maintaining the hospital’s high standards of care and operational efficiency.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will have a background in mental health, with specific experience in areas such as PICU, ED, rehabilitation, or acute mental health settings. You will be an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of the people we care for. You will be a resilient, empathetic, and proactive individual with a strong focus on patient-centred care and team collaboration.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified nurse with a valid NMC registration, or a relevant clinical qualification.
  • Extensive experience in a mental health or acute care setting, with experience in managing complex care scenarios.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively and provide direction during the night shift.
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support staff at all levels.
  • Understanding and experience of incident management and crisis intervention.

If you are passionate about delivering outstanding care, have leadership experience, and are ready to take on this exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you!
