Overview
First Military Recruitment are seeking a part time Lecturer on behalf of a renowned client, to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English within their cross-college provision, primarily to vocational learners aged 16-18. You must be available to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
This is a challenging and rewarding area of the College. You would play a key role in supporting vocational learners with their development and to help them progress onto higher courses or the workplace. You would join a team of skilled teachers with a wealth of experience and knowledge, who are pro-active in sharing best practice with the team in order to engage with and enthuse resit learners. Duties & Responsibilities
Part time - 18 Hours per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday with flexibility to change according to curriculum needs).
Teach on a range of programmes in the relevant subject area, including GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
Assess students’ progress regularly including the timely marking of work and giving feedback, both written and oral.
Work towards the integration of students’ basic skills’ development in the delivery of teaching and learning.
Promote Equal Opportunities and implement the College’s Equality and Diversity Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
Provide a secure, safe and friendly learning environment including implementation of College’s Health & Safety Policy.
Skills & Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in English or related subject (or minimum of Level 3 qualification plus proven successful experience of teaching GCSE English for at least 2 years).
Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE)**, or willing to obtain this, supported by the College.
Experience of teaching or tutoring GCSE and/or Functional Skills English.
The ability to engage and enthuse vocational learners aged 16-18.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour of students effectively and engage reluctant learners.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
High standard of literacy.
Good teaching practice.
Understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Safeguarding.
Awareness of and sensitivity towards the different learning needs of students.
Commitment to learners and learner achievement.
