A good knowledge of bookkeeping is essential. The role also requires accuracy, strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Experience with Sage Accounts and Payroll would be highly beneficial.

What you’ll be doing

  • Processing invoices and maintaining accurate sales and purchase ledger
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Managing monthly payroll processes
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in compliance with regulations
  • Providing financial administration and support to the wider team
  • Assisting in the monitoring and control of expenditure
  • Helping to prepare the local authority’s annual budget estimates
  • Completing their annual accounts and coordinating internal and external audits
