Finance Officer

A prestigious Cambridge College is looking for a friendly and detail-focused Finance Officer to join its team on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). These hours can be worked across 3, 4 or 5 days and within the role, you will report into the Management Accountant.

As the incoming Finance officer, you will play a key part in managing sales invoicing, credit control, and internal catering and conference accounting. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and processing daily invoice transactions, ensuring accuracy and liaising with relevant departments
  • Monitoring overdue payments, updating records, and assisting with debt recovery
  • Reconciling transactions, including PayPal payments and internal event charges
  • Managing internal recharges, including financial records for Fellows and guest transactions
  • Handling general banking tasks, including processing cash and cheque payments
  • Deputising for purchase ledger duties when required
As the successful applicant, you will have experience in a similar finance role, with strong numeracy, accuracy, and IT skills, particularly in Excel and financial software. Good communication and teamwork skills are essential, as well as a proactive and organised approach to work. Previous experience within a college environment is desirable but not essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a great organisation with a rich history. The role offers a healthy holiday and benefits package. Due to the nature of the role, the position will be based mostly on site, but there will be ad hoc flexibility to work from home.
