Southwark Council is offering an exciting opportunity to be part of our brand-new leisure centre, we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Swim Teachers to join our team. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals of all ages and abilities to learn, improve, and enjoy swimming. As part of our passionate team, you’ll play a key role in helping our community become confident swimmers while promoting water safety and fitness at Canada Water Leisure Centre.

About Role:

As a Swim Teacher, you will deliver high-quality swimming lessons to individuals and groups, ranging from beginners to advanced swimmers. You’ll create fun, engaging, and educational sessions that inspire students to develop their skills, confidence, and love for the water. Whether teaching children or adults, your expertise will help participants achieve their swimming goals in a safe and supportive setting. You will be supported by a friendly and professional team. Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver swimming lessons to individuals and groups of varying abilities, from beginner to advanced levels
  • Ensure that each lesson is structured, fun, and engaging for all participants
  • Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and positive reinforcement
  • Monitor swimmers’ progress and offer constructive feedback to help them improve
  • Promote water safety and instil confidence in learners of all ages
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all swimmers
  • Work closely with other team members to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the pool area
  • Assist with the development of lesson plans and programs tailored to different age groups and skill levels

About You:

  • A nationally recognised swimming teacher qualification England or equivalent
  • Experience teaching swimming to children and/or adults is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for swimming and helping others develop their skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs and abilities
  • A commitment to maintaining high safety standards in and around the pool
  • A friendly, approachable, and patient personality

Additional Information

Southwark Leisure Services operates across several sites, seven days a week from early morning to late night. There is a requirement for the post holder on occasions, to work outside normal office hours and at different venues to meet the needs of the service.

  • Job Type: Permanent, Part Time.
  • Some weekend and evening work will be required to meet service needs.
