Responsibilities
Preparing the surgeryEnsuring the surgery is ready for use, including setting up the treatment room and making sure all necessary supplies are available
Sterilizing instrumentsDecontaminating instruments using a multi-stage process that may involve scrubbing, soaking, and autoclaving
Assisting the dentistProviding support during procedures, such as passing instruments, removing saliva, and ensuring proper suction
Maintaining patient recordsTaking notes during consultations and treatments, and collecting and maintaining dental and medical histories
Educating patientsProviding oral health education and answering questions
Maintaining a sterile environmentEnsuring the surgery is kept clean and tidy, and that health and safety policies are followed
Managing suppliesOrdering dental supplies and managing stock
Managing PPEEnsuring that all patient-facing staff have the necessary supplies, such as masks, gloves, and gowns
