We are a nurturing special school in Crowborough, East Sussex, dedicated to supporting children with a range of additional needs. Our school provides a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Mid Day Supervisor to join our team and help ensure that lunchtime is a positive and well-supported experience for our students.

The Role:
As a Mid Day Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting students during their lunch break. You will ensure their safety, well-being, and comfort, providing support with eating, personal care, and social interaction. You will also play a key role in encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students in their social development, ensuring a calm and pleasant atmosphere during lunchtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students in the dining hall and playground during lunchtime.
  • Ensure students are safe and comfortable during their lunch break, offering support with eating and personal care as required.
  • Encourage positive social interactions, promoting inclusion and good behaviour.
  • Support students in developing social skills and interacting appropriately with their peers.
  • Report any incidents, concerns, or changes in student behaviour to the appropriate staff members.
  • Ensure the dining and outdoor areas are tidy and well-maintained during lunchtime.
  • Support the smooth transition between lunchtime and afternoon lessons.
  • Be a positive and reassuring presence for students during their break time.

About You:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs, is desirable but not essential.
  • A caring, patient, and approachable attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive approach to ensuring students’ safety and well-being.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use your initiative when needed.
  • A commitment to providing an inclusive and positive lunchtime environment.
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
