Part-time Teacher of PE

Working hours: Part-time 2 days a week, fixed term (possibility to extend to a full-time role from September)

Start date: Easter 2025

Salary: £30,627 - £51,144 per annum pro rata

Godstowe is a thriving, busy School enjoying a famous reputation in its field and is now entering its 125th anniversary year. Approximately a third of our pupils are boarders. The School prepares children for entry, mostly at 13+ but some at 11+, into the leading independent senior schools. The School prides itself on academic excellence, whilst being non-selective at entry.

Godstowe has experienced great success in a number of sports including Lacrosse, Netball, Athletics and Swimming and we pride ourselves on the quality of our curriculum lessons. We are a thriving, busy school enjoying a famous reputation in its field. PE is taught to every child at Godstowe by a specialist teacher from Reception onwards. The school boasts an enviable range of facilities: a 25-metre four-lane Swimming Pool, a multi-purpose Sports Hall and Dance Studio, floodlit Netball and Tennis Courts, a Lacrosse pitch and Athletics track.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of PE to teach summer Sports at Godstowe, for the summer term. Ideally, they will have the experience to teach cricket, tennis and athletics. Fixtures normally take place in the evenings, after school, and from time-to-time at weekends.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • have the ability to teach all aspects of PE, including swimming, cricket and netball
  • have experience teaching children in the 3-13 age range
  • take a full part in the extra-curricular activity programme
  • offer expertise in girls’ team sports
  • have good organisational skills
  • be a supportive and creative member of the department, where staff work as a team
  • be excited about working in one of the most successful girls’ prep schools in the UK
  • relish the challenge of maintaining the highest possible standards
  • encourage girls of all abilities with equal measures of enthusiasm
  • understand the need for a flexible approach to working
