Occupational Health Advisor (Aunt Bessie's)
We are currently looking to recruit a part time (Flexible 3 days) Occupational Health Advisor to join our Aunt Bessie Site based in Hull, East Yorkshire

The site includes 2* distinct manufacturing departments, with 7* production lines across 21,000 tonnes per annum. The site is multi-category with savoruy and sweet bakery capability covering ranges including the iconic Yorkshire pudding, Birdseye meat pies and Jam Roly Poly. The UK is the main market serviced from the site but there are small volumes exported to IRE and Canada. The site manufactures both branded and private label products.
The role requires the Occupational Health Advisor to deliver a range of health surveillance and health screening programmes to ensure compliance with meeting requirements of health and safety legislation and to reflect commitment of Aunt Bessie’s to its employees wellbeing
Main responsibilities:
- Plan and implement statutory health surveillance programme relevant to requirements on site.
- Plan and implement statutory and non-statutory health monitoring of 'at risk’ groups of employees
- Review pre-employment health information and support management in assessing specific requirements of individuals and fitness for role
- Provide advice and support to employees on health related matters and, if necessary, refer to Company Doctor, physiotherapist or a relevant agency
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports relating to health screening activities
- Monitor sickness absence to identify and implement effective return to work or continued working
- Assist the HR team with specific employees health assessments in relation to DDA and other legislation
- Keep abreast of legislative and best practice updates for occupational health provision
- Ensure suitable first aid supplies are maintained and equipment is serviced and calibrated
- To provide support, advice and guidance to managers and employees in relation to sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessments and return to work following absence
- To undertake independent home visits to staff that are on long term sickness, accompanied by the HR Advisor
- Effectively manage medical records in line with relevant Data Protection legislation and Access to Medical Reports
- Support the HR team to provide and promote Health Campaigns on a monthly basis
- Order and distribute (when necessary) Eye vouchers
Qualifications & Previous Experience:
- Occupational health Qualification - Diploma or above
- Audiological and Spirometry qualification
- Previous experience in an Occupational Health role
- Experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment (Desirable)
- Ariba / SAP knowledge (Desirable)
Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills
- Good knowledge of Excel, word, and power point skills
- Be able to prioritise workload and use experience and initiative to refer complex cases to the Company GP and implement good rehabilitation plans
- Have the ability to advise and guide employees and managers in a supportive manner whilst maintain good working relationships and keeping within Company Policy guidelines
- Positive and personable at all times
- Organisational and administrative skills.
- To maintain confidentiality in accordance with guidelines and GDPR
- Flexibility as the Nightshift will need to be seen once a month
