Kitchen Assistant

  • Main Purpose of the Job :
  • To assist with the delivery of a programme of cookery workshop experiences within either Leeds Cookery School locations.
  • To work appropriately with customers with a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • Main Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • To help ensure that equipment, resources and ingredients are ready for each workshop.
  • To maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness & hygiene throughout working hours.
  • To help & support customers experience excellent customer service.
  • To ensure all work is delivered in line with the high standards and expectations of Leeds Cookery School.
  • To support and work with Leeds Cookery School and Zest staff, volunteers, students and partner organisations.
  • To answer the phone appropriately and take accurate messages.
  • To work in accordance with the organisational policies and procedures of Zest.
  • To participate in the Zest 121 sessions, staff reviews, appraisal and personal development scheme.
  • To work collaboratively with the team and with the partner organisations of Zest.
  • To undertake further training as required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with grade and agreed with line manager.

  • Principal Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Reports all accidents and/or incidents and near misses in accordance with the Organisation’s procedures.
  • Essential Experience and Specialist Knowledge:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Cooking and food preparation skills.
  • Keeping a food environment clean and tidy.
  • Desirable Education and Training:
  • Basic food hygiene certificate.
  • City and Guilds or equivalent cookery qualification
  • Hours of work: Your working hours will be agreed fortnightly to monthly in advance and organised according to the Schools needs.The days and evenings of the week on which you are required to work are Monday through Sunday. We will endeavour to share workloads and be fair when scheduling in weekend shifts. You are not expected to work more than 8 hours per day or more than 5 days per wee
