Day-to-day of the role:

As an Autism Specialist, you will: * Develop and implement tailored educational strategies that meet the specific needs of students with autism. * Work closely with a team of educators and therapists to create a supportive and effective learning environment. * Utilise evidence-based practices to enhance communication, social skills, and behavioural management for students. * Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adapt educational plans accordingly. * Provide guidance and support to other staff members in understanding autism spectrum disorders. * Engage with families to offer insights and strategies that support their children’s learning and development at home.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Autism Specialist or in a similar role within special educational needs (SEN) settings.
  • A deep understanding of autism and the challenges and opportunities it presents in an educational context.
  • Confidence and dedication to go above and beyond in supporting children with special needs.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a DBS certificate on the update service.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development in the field of autism education.
