Part time Finance Director

We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading company in the construction and engineering sector with over 20 years of tenure in their market. They have grown into an organisation providing comprehensive services to retail and commercial customers nationally.
As a pioneering organisation that proactively looks to advance technology and services in their industry, and on the back of new growth opportunities, we are leading the search for a part-time Finance Director to join them permanently on a 3 or 4 days per week basis.
Your new role
As the part-time Finance Director, you will lead a team of 6 and be responsible for overseeing the financial health of the company. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Managing long-term project accounting, ensuring all financial aspects of projects are tracked and reported accurately.
- Overseeing cashflow management to ensure the company maintains a healthy financial position.
- Developing and implementing financial strategies to support the company's growth and profitability.
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to the board and senior management.
- Ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Managing budgeting and forecasting processes to support strategic planning.
- Conducting financial analysis to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborating with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Handling tax planning and compliance, including VAT and corporate tax.
- Managing relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive experience in long-term project accounting, ideally within the construction or engineering sectors.
- Strong cashflow management experience from an SME background.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a finance team.
- Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to develop and implement effective financial strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and strategic mindset with the ability to drive financial performance.
- Relevant accounting qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
