Senior Accountant

The Redcliffe family own property in Radwinter, London and Devon, and two investment companies. The family comprises Neil and Emma Redcliffe, their adult children Melissa and Henry and their spouses. Neil is a successful entrepreneur and property owner/developer, a JP and past Sheriff of London, with a set of demanding high-profile roles in the City of London Livery organisations. Melissa and her husband Sam Geary-Jones have established a sustainable package free retail outlet on the family’s Radwinter property, The Refill Barn, which is being extended to include a café and other facilities. Henry is a photographer. Together they are directors of two family companies.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented, experienced accountant to manage the book-keeping and accounting needs of one business and two family offices: The Refill Barn, Cleeve Estates, and Goodfellows Enterprises. Primarily, the role will focus on The Refill Barn.

The successful candidate will have at least four years of experience in bookkeeping or managing accounts and will also be willing to assist in organising diaries and meetings for the Company Directors. This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, and in Xero accounting software.

We are looking for someone who is lives within an hour’s commute to Radwinter and can work on site, contributing in-person as an important member of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes for The Refill Barn, Goodfellows Enterprises and Cleeve Estates.
  • Prepare financial reports, such as profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, forecasts, stock reports, supplier payment summaries, bank reconciliations, cash reports, payroll, VAT return and other useful business reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Deal with HMRC in respect of PAYE.
  • Organise financial data into usable information and maintain updated records.
  • Liaise with company accountants on statutory accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate diary schedules for Directors.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Initially, undertake project work to set up a stock control and stock accounting for The Refill Barn, requiring up to 3 days of work per week during the first 2-3 months.
  • Liaise with the directors/owners on all aspects of book-keeping and accounting.

Requirements:

  • Qualified or experienced accountant.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accountancy, accounts administration and producing management accounts from source records.
  • Technically able to automate stock accounting for a small retail outlet
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, and experienced with Xero accounting software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

FTE pay indication below will be pro-rate to the p/t hours agreed.
