The Village Montessori Nursery is a STAR Accredited setting based in the village of Theydon Bois in Essex. We are seeking a qualified, preferably experienced, passionate Montessori directress to join our small, friendly team from January 2025.

Candidate must hold a Montessori Diploma (ideally International Diploma) and have a good understanding of the EYFS. We are looking for someone who is a good team worker, is in good health; has an excellent command of spoken and written English and has a minimum grade of C in English 'O’ Level or GCSE. The candidate will have a good knowledge of health and safety to ensure the well-being of children and staff, demonstrate a caring and sympathetic nature, be confident using the Montessori materials and have an excellent understanding of the Montessori philosophy.

Hours: 9 am to 2 pm Mon-Fri, 40 weeks per annum, mostly following school term-time.

Duties will include, amongst others: working with a small group of children aged from 2 ½ up to 5 years each day; planning and preparing group activities relating to our topics; maintaining daily records; preparing Next Steps for key children; attending training as and when required (eg. First Aid, Safeguarding); preparing the indoor and outdoor environment before session and tidying away at the end of the session. (NB: there is some occasional lifting of equipment).

Salary negotiable, plus paid overtime. Training will be provided as and when necessary as well as opportunities to attend conferences and seminars as part of the candidate’s CPD; paid holiday up to 28/29 days (which includes bank holidays) per annum. There is an option to join the nursery’s Pension Scheme.

Good communication links to M25, M11 and Central Line. There is free parking available.

The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS and will be asked to provide 3 references.
