Assistant Underwriter – Trade Finance Solutions

London with hybrid working

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Credit team in London, with hybrid working options.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to establish a career in either insurance or finance solutions.

The Opportunity

Surrounded by supportive and experienced colleagues, this role will provide full exposure across the underwriting lifecycle. You’ll be involved in all aspects of the business, including supporting underwriting and developing new and existing business in accordance with the Trade Finance Solutions’ business plan and risk appetite.  You will also provide support on a technical and administrative level for more complex tasks.

Your New Role

  • Supporting the triaging process for new enquiries being received from the market in accordance with the risk appetite
  • Supporting the underwriting review process of new business and renewals, including policy and financing facility wordings, financial & business information
  • Supporting the internal recording and documentation of new enquiries, submissions, quotes, and bound policies.
  • Maintaining and reviewing processes and models integral to the underwriting process.
  • Developing working relationships with external and internal stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues
  • Work with finance and credit teams to ensure clear flow of funds and review current processes to enhance efficiencies
  • Developing a knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles

About you

  • A high level of numeracy and literacy
  • Strong business acumen and keen interest in detailed corporate analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse data and use for decision-making
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Experience in either the financial services industry and/or the ability to understand financial accounts is desirable
