Library Assistant

We're looking for a Library Assistant to be a part of our close-knit library service!

Our libraries deliver essential community-based support, promoting the benefits of reading for everyone, offering a quality, trusted information service, bridging digital inclusion through supporting safe access to online resources, and curating a programme of events and activities that meet the needs of targeted audiences.

Salary: £24,790 to £25,183 per annum (£8,710 to £8,848 pro rata for part time) entitlement to Saturday Enhancement to working 4 hours 14 minutes for 1 in 2 Saturdays.

The Opportunity

Ferring is a small welcoming library in the village conservation zone with an eclectic mix of shops and cafes close by.

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and resourceful individual, with excellent digital skills.

You will be the go-to person for customers at the library, providing high quality assistance with their questions and guiding them to other services as needed.

It's not just about the books! We are looking for someone who understands the power of community and the importance of fostering a love for reading in people of all ages. You will have the opportunity to participate in exciting library programmes such as Toddler Time which is held every Tuesday morning.

Customer service is at the forefront of the library service, as it plays an important role in creating a vibrant and dynamic workplace. It requires flexibility, creativity, and initiative from those who work there. This could mean helping a customer log-on to the library Wi-Fi or a reading recommendation.

The variety of our work means that no two days are the same. We get huge job satisfaction from helping everyone who comes through our doors, and you could too!
