Tree Officer part-time

Your new company
A local authority based in the East Midlands is looking to expand their Arboricultural team.
They have an established team which helps to deal with tree preservation, woodland management, hedgerow regulations, high hedge complaints. They are responsible for dealing with high-profile public projects.
Your new role
This role will involve supporting a wider team in order to deliver projects efficiently. Main duties will vary depending on experience, but they could involve:

  • A part-time position working 22.5 hours a week
  • Dealing with applications for work on trees that are protected by tree preservation orders
  • To prepare new tree preservation orders
  • To investigate unauthorised works on protected trees
  • Supporting the planning enforcement team with arboricultural compliance
  • Investigating high hedge applications under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003
  • Supporting the council's emergency planning team
  • Providing a high level of customer service to external stakeholders
  • To maintain the correct level of knowledge required to undertake the council's obligations for tree protection under the Town and Countryside Act 1990
  • To promote the council's policies on woodland protection



What you'll need to succeed

  • Professional experience working in a similar role
  • Awareness of politically sensitive issues
  • Knowledge of current planning law
  • Ability to interpret environmental legislation
  • Professional qualification in Arboriculture
  • A current driving licence
  • Eligible for professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters
  • Eligible for professional membership of the Arboricultural Association
  • QCF Level 6 qualification within Arboriculture
