Finance Officer

Lyng Community Association is a charitable social housing landlord in West Bromwich that manages properties and provides community development activities on the Lyng estate.

The duties and responsibilities of the role of Finance Officer include maintaining financial records using Sage Accounting Plus software, issuing payments, checking income records, producing quarterly management and annual statutory accounts and providing administrative support to ensure the efficient day to day operation of the office. The Finance Officer will support the General Manager and Office Manager and other employees through a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities:-

• Maintaining Sage Accounting Plus records of all financial transactions including:-

• Preparing Quarterly Management Accounts

• Preparing Annual Statutory Accounts

• Liaising with the Association’s Auditors to ensure the production of Audit Reports.

• Reconciling any discrepancies or errors identified

• Adhering to the company's or organisation's financial policies and procedures

• Producing additional financial reports as required.

• Maintaining and reconciling Petty Cash and Credit Card records

• Maintaining an effective filing system, updating files as appropriate.

• General Administrative Duties including:-

Answering general phone calls with a professional and courteous manner, directing enquiries as appropriate and forwarding accurate messages.

Responding to general information requests with accurate information.

Input and reconcile data accurately onto property management systems.

Back up electronic files using established procedures.

• Provide cover for annual / sick leave as required.

Qualifications:-

• Relevant professional training or experience (5 years)

• Financial Qualification OR Part Qualified Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Excellent understanding of Sage Accounting Plus software.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Finance and Administration experience including call handling.

• Excellent time management skills including ability to multi-task and prioritise work.

• Proficiency in MS Office. • excellent mathematical and analytical skills;

• understanding of data privacy including G.D.P.R. standards

• familiarity with business principles and practices

• experience of producing management and statutory accounts

The working hours are 16 hours per week that can be worked over 3 or 4 days - mornings including Fridays. The role is office based.

The salary for 16 hours is up to £16,472 per annum.

The office location is 5 minutes walk from the centre of West Bromwich and 5 minutes walk from the tram service to central Birmingham (19 minutes away)

Holidays based on 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays on a pro-rata basis.
