Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial Lawyer

Your new company
UK based company and part of a wider international group, this business has a solid client base, an impressive revenue-generating record, with future plans for growth and expansion. The legal team, based in the North West, is looking to appoint a senior lawyer to focus on commercial contracts advice, drafting and negotiating terms of agreement.

Your new role
You will report into the General Counsel to support the business on a range of legal matters including general contract management, drafting and negotiating supply agreements, providing strategic advice and making commercial decisions and managing the relationship with external lawyers where necessary. This role offers a good level of autonomy and you will advise on a range of legal matters across the business up to exec level. You will also mentor and supervise junior lawyers and trainee/paralegals in the team and there is room for the position to develop into a Head of Legal role as the team develops.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a solid foundation in commercial contracts with experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements. You will have completed your training with a well-regarded law firm or in-house legal department and have excellent relationship-building skills in order to work effectively across the business and influence decision-making at all levels. Any experience with data protection, procurement and tenders would be an advantage. This would suit an experienced commercial lawyer who is results driven and enjoys working in a business facing role as part of a friendly and collaborative team.

What you'll get in return
You will join a high calibre team in a rewarding environment. You will be offered the opportunity to progress and develop your career as you get to understand the business and move into a deputising role. You will be offered a competitive salary plus a friendly and supportive working environment with benefits including company car allowance, pension contributions, private medical, bonus, free parking and flexible working hours with the option to work from home part of the week. A 4-day week could also be an option for this role.
